Due to high demand for driver education in the province, Manitoba Public Insurance is excited to offer condensed Driver Z courses in select communities this summer.
These courses will take place over five weeks and require full parental/guardian/co-pilot support to help the student successfully complete the program.
Registration for the summer courses will begin at 8:00 a.m. on May 28, 2025. A listing of all available summer courses will be published on May 23, 2025 on our Course Finder page. See the registration information section for details on how to plan ahead and make registration faster.
Key information
- Each course will consist of two weeks of virtual classes and three weeks of in-car lessons.
- Due to the condensed course delivery, students must attend all classes with no exceptions. This applies to both the virtual classes and in-car lessons.
- Virtual classes will be held between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (See schedules below for exact times.)
- The accelerated course content will require the student to diligently complete the eLessons and in-class assignments, study for the Knowledge Test, and practice driving with their co-pilots.
- Students are eligible to take their Readiness Assessment (RA) seven months from the date of their Driver Z Knowledge Test. The in-car instructor will contact the student to schedule the RA when the requirements have been met. During the RA, instructors assess how ready students are for the test, and provide feedback on areas to practice before scheduling a road test.
