Due to overland flooding, mobile appointments in the Dauphin area have been cancelled until further notice. This includes all mobile estimating and driver testing appointments. MPI is contacting impacted customers directly and will rebook appointments as road conditions allow. Customers may also be able to access alternate services, including Photo-Based Estimating and Direct Repair, depending on the nature of their claim.
MPI’s Dauphin Service Centre is open today and operating under normal hours. Customers with appointments booked at the centre can attend them as planned.
MPI continues to see significant impact from recent severe weather. Nearly 29,000 claims have been opened since the June 9 hail storm in Winnipeg, the highest number of claims ever reported following a single event.
MPI has opened two Hail Response Centres in Winnipeg for customers in the city and surrounding areas to expedite initial damage assessments. Appointments are available as early as Thursday and customers are able to cancel later appointments and rebook for an earlier date and time if desired. Customers who opened a claim online have received an email from MPI that contains their claim number and detailed options for next steps, based on their location.
MPI is reminding customers to report their claims as soon as possible to provide the Corporation with the information it needs to continue to respond in the best way possible. Claims should be reported based on the type of damage incurred:
Glass Repairs
Customers with glass damage can contact an accredited autobody or glass repair shop to open a claim and arrange for a temporary repair. They can do this whether or not they have already begun the claims process with MPI over the phone or online. Customers will be required to pay their deductible at the time the temporary repair is done.
After the temporary repair is complete, customers will be contacted to book an estimating appointment at an MPI location to determine if the vehicle can be permanently repaired.
Damaged, and not Drivable
Customers whose vehicles cannot be driven due to storm damage should call MPI’s Contact Centre directly at 204-985-7000 or toll-free at 1-800-665-2410 to report their claim. We are prioritizing the most severe claims through our Contact Centre.
Damaged, but Drivable
Customers with damaged vehicles that can still be safely driven are encouraged to open a claim with MPI online at openclaim.mpi.mb.ca.
*** MPI sincerely appreciates the patience and understanding shown by customers as we continue to move through a very active storm season in the province.
