About a month before your in-class or virtual course starts (also called the Kick-Off), students will receive an email with instructions on how to log on to Driver Z website and get started on the required activities before their first class.
Required activities before the first class
Students, before the first class of your course, you must:

- Set up co-pilots through your Driver Z account (you can have up to eight).
- Make sure your co-pilots complete their own Electric Avenue (Activities 1 through 6).
- Don’t forget to bring one of your co-pilots to your first class.
Co-pilots, before the first class of your student’s course, you must:
- Accept the email invitation to participate in the program (students will send invitations by email through their Driver Z account).
- Complete eLessons 1-6 (please note: this can take up to three hours).

Frequently asked questions
I didn’t get an email with my log in information. What should I do?

Why do I need a co-pilot?
Co-pilots are necessary because they help develop you into a long-term safe driver and shape a positive traffic safety culture by setting a good example. They support your progress and help you achieve the program requirements by verifying your in-car lessons and practice sessions.
Driver Z is a partnership between you, the instructor, and your co-pilot(s) that provides you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make you a safe, responsible driver.
The more involved your parent or guardian is in your driver education, the less likely you are to be involved in painful, or potentially fatal collisions.
How can I prepare for my Knowledge Test?
The best way you can prepare for your Knowledge Test is to complete your online learning through the Driver Z website prior to the test.
When and how do I invite my co-pilot?
You can invite your co-pilot(s) once you receive your welcome email from Driver Z. It is important to invite at least one co-pilot right away so they can complete their online activities before Kick-Off. You can add more co-pilots later if you need to.
To invite a co-pilot, follow these steps:
- From the menu bar of the Driver Z home page, select Practice.
- The Practice Log page appears.
- Locate the Co-Pilots section.
- Select the Manage button.
- The Profile & Settings page appears.
- Locate the Invite Co-Pilots section under Manage Co-Pilots.
- Enter the first and last name of the person you want to invite in the box next to Who are you inviting?
- Select the Create Invite button.
- A pop-up window will appear with the email text.
- Select the Send email button.
- Your personal email will open with the email text.
- If your personal email does not open, you must open a new email and copy and paste the text provided in the pop-up window.
