The battle against fraud is one that requires both determination and innovation.
In 1998, we introduced a TIPS line, an initiative specifically designed to encourage Manitobans to take responsibility and identify people who are increasing Autopac rates by making fraudulent claims.
Manitobans responded and continue to make about 80 tips per month.These calls generate numerous investigations resulting in significant savings for premium payers.
Fraud can take many forms. In the past, Manitoba Public Insurance has encountered customers trying to fake claims, stage accidents, padding (or inflating) genuine claims, and making false statements on insurance applications.
We are committed to protecting you from the cost of insurance fraud. Suspicious or fraudulent claims should be brought to the attention of the Special Investigation Unit for review and investigation.
