Manitoba Collision Dashboard

The Manitoba Collision Dashboard is designed to provide direct and timely access to key road safety data from collisions that occur on our provincial roadways.

What data does the dashboard share?

The dashboard uses Traffic Accident Report (TAR) data received by MPI to highlight trends in collisions. There are two sources for Traffic Accident Reports (TARs): they are completed by law enforcement agencies or by Manitoba Public Insurance when a collision claim is opened.

The dashboard replaces the historical Traffic Collision Statistics Reports provided in previous years. For more information about TARs, please see the Traffic Collision Statistics Report Archive section of this page.

Note: The dashboard does not include non-collision claim related data collected by MPI.

Data availability

The dashboard is updated monthly (on the 22^nd of each month) with data from collision reports submitted to Manitoba Public Insurance by customers about motor vehicle collisions on public roadways. Please note: the data may change over time because some details may be added or updated after a collision is first reported. The figures shown in the report are the best available at the time of posting but may be updated as new information becomes available.

How to use the dashboard

The dashboard is organized by categories that allow you to explore Manitoba collision trends from multiple perspectives, including the demographics of those involved (age, gender, as well as injury severity and fatalities), time, geography, collision characteristics and contributing factors.

Each page contains filters that allow you to narrow results by year, month, day of week, municipality or region, and collision type. In each category as well as in the glossary, additional context is provided to help you interpret the data.

Traffic Collision Statistics Report Archive

Please note that with the introduction of the Manitoba Collision Dashboard, MPI no longer publishes the Traffic Collision Statistics Report. Data for years before 2026 was presented in an annual report format and cannot be directly compared in a like for like way to the dashboard view that is now available. Traffic Collision Statistics Reports 2012-2022

The Traffic Collision Statistics Report was previously the official statistical record of collisions on public roadways in Manitoba.

Before the Manitoba Collision Dashboard was introduced, this comprehensive report was an important road safety tool used by policy makers, traffic-safety experts, public-safety programmers, infrastructure planners and legislators to help create policies and programs to reduce collisions and increase road safety.

There are two sources for Traffic Accident Reports (TARs): TARs completed by law enforcement agencies and TARs completed when a collision claim is registered with Manitoba Public Insurance. These reports deal with collisions via TARs in Manitoba on an annual basis and provide detailed information and statistics on historical trends, driver demographics, vehicle types, casualties, contributing factors and alcohol-related convictions.
