Obtaining a driver record (abstract)

Driver records can be obtained for a fee of $10, and are usually used for employment and legal purposes. They are issued only to the driver or to someone with written permission from the driver to obtain this information. When requesting a driver record, make sure to specify if you need a commercial or personal driver record. A request takes up to three business days to process if mailed or faxed.

Visit your Autopac agent to request a driver record, pay the fee and arrange to have the record mailed or faxed to you.


Visit one of the Manitoba Public Insurance Service Centre locations and an abstract can be printed for you right away.

Payment options are: certified cheque or money order payable to Manitoba Public Insurance or credit card (VISA or MasterCard). If paying by credit card, please include your card number and expiry date with your request.

The driver record contains: name, address, driver licence number, date of birth, sex, height, eye color, licence effective date, licence expiry date, authorized instruction, air brakes, conditions effective and expiry date (if applicable), licence status, test year, date first licensed, licence class, restrictions (if any), at-fault accidents, convictions*, suspensions, disqualifications and prohibitions.

*A discharge under the Criminal Code of Canada for certain driving related offences may be treated as a conviction under the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.
