MPI’s Driver Z Program Code of Conduct

Code of conduct

Students are expected to adhere to this code of conduct at all times in MPI’s Driver Z Program. Failure to do so may result in being withdrawn from the program without a refund.

  • Prerequisite work: Students are required to complete the required eLearning prior to their first in-class session. The eLearning may take up to 12 hours to complete.
  • In-class and in-car session attendance requirements: Students must attend at least 18 hours of the scheduled 20 hours of classroom time, and all 15 hours of in-car lessons which includes the one-hour readiness assessment.

If a student is unable to make it to an in-class or in-car session, they need to notify their Driver Z instructor. If they miss a scheduled in-car lesson without providing the instructor with 24 hours’ notice, they’ll have to make up the lesson at their own expense. If they miss two scheduled in-class and two in-car lessons without 24 hours’ notice, they will be withdrawn from the program without a refund.

In the event of illness or emergency, if the instructor cannot be reached, please call the Driver Education office at 204-985-7199 (toll free at 1-800-261-9928) or email Driver Education.

Discipline policy (classroom and vehicle)

If a student exhibits problem behaviour in the classroom or vehicle, the instructor will discuss the problem with the student and his or her parents or guardians, and go over the behaviour expectations and discipline policies that were outlined at the start of the course. If the problem behaviour continues, the instructor will inform the student and his or her parents or guardians of possible consequences such as being withdrawn from the program.

School suspensions

Any student who is suspended from high school or is not permitted on school grounds will be suspended from MPI’s Driver Z Program. If a suspension exceeds the number of allowed absences in MPI’s Driver Z Program, the student will be expelled from the course and will not be entitled to a refund.

Criminal Code offences

Any student who has a Criminal Code conviction or has been served with a Criminal Code offence notice related to a motor vehicle will NOT be permitted to enroll in MPI’s Driver Z Program. Any student who receives a suspension or is charged with a Criminal Code offence related to a motor vehicle while enrolled in the program will not be allowed to complete the program or be entitled to a refund.

Driver Education Harassment and Respectful Workplace Policy

MPI maintains a positive work environment, free of harassment, for all employees and customers. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please contact the Driver Education office 204-985-7199 or toll free at 1-800-261-9928 or email Driver Education.

Adult enrollment (for rural areas only)

In rural areas without immediate access to a commercial driving school, adults who are not high school students will be permitted to enroll under the following circumstances:

  • Current high school students will not be displaced.
  • Adult non-high school students will pay the full cost of instruction.
  • All MPI Driver Z Program policies will apply.

Adult students in rural areas can also register at Autopac agents or an MPI Service Centre.

You must withdraw at least 24 hours prior to the course start date to be eligible for a refund. If you do not provide at least 24 hours’ notice, you must provide a certificate signed by a qualified medical practitioner excusing your withdrawal to obtain a refund. Refunds are not available once you have achieved a Class 5 Learner’s Licence.

Please note: if you change classes, any pre-work you completed will be lost and you will be required to complete it again prior to the start of your new course.
