Securing your child car seat

Rear facing and forward facing child car seats can be secured either with a seat belt or with the Universal Anchorage System (UAS), if it is available in your vehicle.

Seat belt system
If you’re using a seat belt to secure your child car seat, find out if a locking clip is needed. A locking clip is needed if the seat belt system does not lock either with the latch plate or seatbelt retractor. A locking clip is used only with a shoulder/lap belt system. If a locking clip is needed, place it within one inch of the latch plate. Check your vehicle owner’s manual for more information.
