Manitoba Public Insurance tabled its 2004 annual report to the legislature today. The report demonstrates the company’s continuing financial strength and commitment to customer service:

  • Net income was $78.5 million.
  • Investment income of $88.6 million helped reduce the cost of the average premium by $98.
  • The corporation returned 87 per cent of all corporate revenues in the form of benefits – significantly better than the national average.
  • The corporation’s operating costs remained below 50 per cent of the Canadian industry average.
  • The company met or exceeded corporate-wide customer service standards 97 per cent of the time.
  • In 2004, Manitobans filed an average of more than 1,000 claims every working day. This represents about $2 million daily or about $540 million in total annual claims costs.
  • The number of claims rose five per cent to 255,804 but total claims costs decreased 6.3 per cent to $541.7 million.
