MPI on-line driving quiz appeals to novice drivers
Even experienced drivers benefit from refreshing their knowledge at www.mpi.mb.ca

Studying for your driving test? Maybe you got your licence years ago and you know everything there is to know. Or do you? Now you can find out how much you really know about the rules of the road in the privacy and safety of your own home!

Manitoba Public Insurance is introducing an on-line driving quiz to its web site (www.mpi.mb.ca) as a complement to its many other programs and services aimed at helping Manitobans develop and maintain safe driving habits.

"Failing to know the rules of the road can have serious consequences," said Lou Gervino, Manitoba Public Insurance Driver Education Supervisor. "It can get you in trouble with the law and worse, it could leave you or someone else dead or injured.

"This on-line quiz is a fun, safe way for drivers of all ages to sharpen their knowledge."

The quiz is designed to particularly appeal to novice drivers, and to those enrolled in or planning to enroll in Manitoba Public Insurance's High School Driver Education program.

"Younger Manitobans are statistically more likely to be comfortable with web-based technology and on-line 'games' like the quiz," said Gervino. "However, from the feedback we've received already, even the most experienced drivers are finding that they can benefit from the quiz."

The driving quiz has a database of almost 300 questions that have been pulled from the pages of the Manitoba Driver's Handbook. Visitors to the site can choose to answer between 5 and 20 questions at a time. Each time they take the quiz they'll receive a different set of questions. The correct answers are displayed along with your personal results.

Manitoba Public Insurance is committed to helping Manitobans develop and maintain safe driving skills:

  • Manitoba Public Insurance High School Driver Education program
  • Children's Traffic Club (delivered in daycares across the province)
  • The Older Wiser Driver Handbook (Partnership with Manitoba Seniors Directorate)
  • 55-Alive (partnership with Creative Retirement)
