Snowmobilers: slow down and stay on track
Winding through pristine forest on a crisp, clear winter day, you're reminded why snowmobiling can be so invigorating.
By following these tips, you can experience the best snowmobiling offers – and minimize your risk of a crash too.
Slow down
Riding a snowmobile can give you a sense of speed – without speeding – because you're riding exposed to the open air. It's something like riding in a convertible. But don't get carried away.
Remember, going too fast is the cause of most snowmobile crashes.
Stick to groomed trails
You'll face far fewer hazards riding on groomed trails than if you ride off them.
Off the trail, it's always possible you'll hit a large rock, wire fence, or machinery hidden by snow. The results can be catastrophic.
Ride outside city limits
Not only is it dangerous to ride within the City of Winnipeg, it's illegal. There's simply too much traffic – both pedestrian and otherwise – for it to be safe.
