Slow down in school zones
Speedometer

Speeding is a dangerous driving decision at any time of the year, on any stretch of road, but it's a special concern now that kids are back at school.

While anyone on foot faces and represents certain challenges, these young pedestrians are in a class by themselves.

Young children are especially at risk because of their smaller size and stature, the way they perceive traffic, their quick movements and their unpredictable behaviour.

The probability that a pedestrian will be killed if hit by a motor vehicle increases dramatically with speed. Research indicates that if a pedestrian is hit by a car travelling at 30 km/h when compared to 50 km/h, it could mean the difference between life and death.

Please slow down in school zones and keep yourself and others safe.
