Resolve to be a safe driver
The end of the year is approaching and many people are thinking of New Year's resolutions. One thing we can all resolve to be is an even safer driver next year.
Here are some good habits to start using:
Keep your lights on
Use your headlights during the day to ensure your vehicle is visible from the front and the back when driving on the highway in the winter, especially in snowy or blustery conditions.
Drive at or below the speed limit
Driving the speed limit saves you money, reduces your personal carbon footprint and could save a life. When conditions aren't ideal, reduce your speed and stay in control.
Designate a driver
Plan to have a designated driver if your plans include drinking.
Stay off the phone while driving
Don't text, dial or talk on your handheld phone when you are behind the wheel.
Keep your distance
Maintain a safe following distance to ensure you have enough time to react and stop for unexpected circumstances.
Have a happy New Year and stay safe on the roads in 2012.
