May long weekend: drive safe, get home safe
Most Manitobans look to this weekend as the unofficial launch of summer. But the anticipation of getting out of town can make drivers overly eager when they hit the road.
When heading out this weekend, remember to:
- plan an appropriate amount of travel time
- wear your seatbelt
- keep your speed appropriate for the conditions and do not exceed the posted speed limit
- observe the speed limit when passing another vehicle
- stay off the phone when you are driving
Additional road stops will be set up throughout the province checking for drivers with blood alcohol concentration levels of .05 or higher and other violations.
Avoid the far-reaching consequences of drinking and driving:
- designate a sober driver
- if you drink and don't have a designated driver make arrangements to stay over
