Funeral Processions
Funeral processions deserve extra
attention and respect, and,
they have the right of way on
Manitoba’s roads and highways.
Whether you’re part of a funeral
procession or driving near one,
these guidelines will help to reduce
confusion and risk on the road.
Driving in the procession:
- keep your headlights on and use your hazard lights if you are travelling
less than 40 km/hr;
- stay to the far right-hand side of the roadway;
- stay close to the car in front of you;
- use extra caution and stay with the procession when approaching
an intersection;
- after slowing down, or stopping briefly if required for safety, you can
legally proceed through the intersection – including red-light camera
intersections – but you must stay with the procession
Driving near a funeral procession:
- yield the right of way;
- a funeral procession driving through an intersection has the right of way;
- show respect by not changing lanes in to a funeral procession
