When the Light Turns Green

When the light turns red, we stop. But when the light turns green, do we go?  If the traffic light in front of you has turned green, does that mean the intersection is safe to enter? Not necessarily.

Before proceeding on a green light:

If there is still traffic in the intersection when your light turns green, wait until the intersection is clear before proceeding. Always give the right-of-way to traffic already in the intersection.

Watch for slow moving pedestrians who haven't cleared the intersection.

There may also be traffic turning left ahead of you, so be prepared to stop and wait until the traffic light is green. Look first and make sure the intersection is clear and safe to enter.
