Prepare your car wisely for winter
Soon, snow and bone-chilling cold will make safe driving a challenge. But proper equipment and pre-winter maintenance can help you avoid a crash and being stranded.
It starts with your tires
Installing four winter tires can work wonders! Compared to all-season tires, they stay softer in the cold. That means you can count on more grip, better braking and handling and more control in the worst winter conditions.
When shopping for winter tires, look for the mountain peak and snowflake symbol on the sidewall. It’s your assurance they’re rated for severe winter driving.
And to make sure tires perform as intended, keep them properly inflated.
Other tips
Before winter begins, have an expert check your battery, belts, hoses, radiator, oil, lights, brakes, tires, exhaust system, heater/defroster, wipers, and ignition system.
Also, top up your windshield washer with anti-freeze rated at -40°C or colder and replace worn wiper blades.
