Slow down. Stay safe.

Driving too fast for conditions can be dangerous any time of the year. In the winter, when conditions are less than ideal, even driving the posted speed limit can be hazardous. According to Manitoba Public Insurance data, over a six year period (2005-2010), nearly 5,000 drivers in Manitoba were involved in a collision where they were driving too fast for winter conditions.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when driving in the winter:

Remember, the posted speed limit is for ideal conditions. Slow down when roads are icy or visibility is poor.
