Ride smart and stay safe on your off-road vehicle
If you operate an off-road vehicle this
summer, please take a few minutes to review these important tips.
Do a pre-ride inspection:
- Check tires and wheels for pressure and damage.
- Check headlights, tail lights, switches and other lights.
- Check fluid levels, throttle cable, brakes and chassis.
- Suit up with protective clothing and an approved helmet.
When riding:
- Don't drive while impaired.
- Do not drive on privately owned land without the owner's permission.
- Don't travel on roadways.
- Children under 14 must not operate an off-road vehicle unless supervised or accompanied by a parent or adult authorized by the child's parent.
- You must at minimum have an Intermediate Stage Graduated Driver Licence to cross a roadway within five metres of an intersection
- Only one off-road vehicle can cross a roadway at a time.
Always read the instruction manual and follow the manufacturer's
instructions for use and maintenance of your off-road vehicle.
