Don’t let vehicle theft steal your holiday season
As the holiday season swings into full gear, hectic schedules and long “to-do” lists may distract you. Manitoba Public Insurance reminds you that even in your haste to get everything done, you shouldn’t forget to keep your vehicle, valuables and purchases safe.
Always lock your vehicle and roll up the windows when parked. - Remove all keys from the vehicle, including spare and valet keys.
- Keep valuables/packages in the trunk.
- Remove personal and vehicle information from the glove compartment, and keep it with you.
- If possible, park in well-lit areas.
- When at home, lock your garage and the vehicle(s) in the garage.
- For information on immobilizers, visit MPI’s website. An immobilizer is the best way to protect your vehicle from drive-away theft.
- If you have an approved factory-installed immobilizer, pick up free stickers at any MPI service centre to identify your vehicle as protected. No appointment is required.
