Stuck Accelerator

It’s common for ice and snow to build-up around the accelerator pedal in winter.  It's annoying and it can also lead to an emergency situation that will require a quick and proper reaction.

If your accelerator pedal sticks

Making a safe stop with power to the steering system is more important than letting the engine rev high for a few extra seconds. With a standard transmission, depressing the clutch will disengage the drive wheels. With an automatic transmission, be careful not to put the gear in reverse.

A caught floor mat can cause the stuck pedal, and if that's not the case, get your vehicle checked by a service technician before driving it again.  A stuck accelerator pedal can be unnerving, and knowing what to do ahead of time can make a big difference.
