School Patrols

school patrolsManitoba school patrols help young pedestrians cross the street safely. As drivers, we must help them do their job. If you see a school patrol at an intersection, other kids are likely nearby.

The first thing to do is slow down...School patrols are not there to control traffic. Their duty is to control when kids should cross the street. They wait for drivers to stop, then let kids cross when it’s safe.

A driver should keep their foot on the brake and proceed only when the kids are on the other sidewalk and the patrol has returned to the curb.

Over 10,000 patrols in schools across the province help kids cross the road safely and prevent traffic collisions.

Do your part and slow down in school zones and other areas where kids may be playing nearby.
