Help Drivers See Us (Daytime running lights)
One of the most common comments heard by a driver after an accident is "I just didn't see the other vehicle in time". That's why it's so important to be seen by other drivers as early as possible.
Since daytime running lights became standard equipment, Transport Canada says the number of crashes where lighting would have made a difference has gone way down. However there's more we can do to help other drivers see us.
The use of headlights, is recommended, even in daylight hours. By switching your headlights on, you make the front bulbs brighter and the tail lights and side markers also come on. This way, you'll be seen from all directions. And that can make a huge difference when the weather is less than ideal.
In snow or rain conditions, your vehicle can be obscured. With your headlights and taillights on, you'll stand out better against the background which reduces the chance of a cycle, pedestrian, or other vehicle moving into your path.
And nobody will even see your lights if they're dirty.
