Child Safety

Car stopping in front of soccer ballChildren can be unpredictable around roadways. So, as drivers, we must watch out for them and slow down.

Children are most often struck by a vehicle when they dart into the road or run between parked cars.

Car stopping in front of soccer ballWhen you're driving in a school zone, residential area or near a playground, lower your speed, look out for little ones and be prepared to stop suddenly.

And always stop for school patrols and children at designated crosswalks.

When driving in these areas, avoid reversing or making u-turns. It's harder to see children and kids don't understand these irregular vehicle movements.

Parents can do their part and teach their kids the rules of the road, such as to only cross streets at marked crosswalks and intersections.

And look both ways before crossing the street.

Taking these precautions can ensure that our kids are safe on the road.
