Knowledge (Written) Tests
Knowledge tests for all classes of licence are:
- administered using a computer;
- scheduled by appointment-only, not walk-in; and
- available at testing locations throughout Winnipeg.
The test on the computer is available in English and French and 26 other lauguages. There is a time limit of 30 minutes to complete the test.
The testing locations are:
- 15 Barnes Street at Bison Drive
- 40 Lexington Park at Gateway Road
- 1284 Main Street
- 125 King Edward Street
- 930 St. Mary's Road (French language services available)
- 420 Pembina Highway
- 1103 Pacific Avenue
To take a knowledge test you need to:
- Visit any Autopac agent to pay for your test and to schedule your test appointment.
- The agent can provide you details of available appointments at any testing location.
- You can schedule your test appointment up to eight weeks in advance.
You will need to register as a customer before you can schedule your knowledge test appointment.
- Doing this in advance will speed up the process because we can begin verifying your identification right away. That means your photo card can be processed without delay once you’ve passed the test.
- You’ll also avoid any surprises or delays that could result on the day of the test if you don’t bring the right identification.
- To register as a customer, just visit any Autopac agent.
- Bring the identification you will need to verify your identity. Identification requirements are outlined here.
Road tests for all classes of licence are scheduled BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Walk-in tests may be available depending on the number of scheduled daily appointments.
Tests can be booked up to eight weeks in advance.
Please note: The customer will need to give written consent for another individual, including a parent or legal guardian, to purchase and book a road test on their behalf. This requirement is dictated by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) which prohibits us from releasing any information about another customer without their written consent.

Arrive at your testing location at least 15 minutes prior to the test:
- Report to the front counter.
- Produce your valid learner's licence and a valid registration certificate for the vehicle you are using for the test.
