Amount Paid to the Deceased's Dependants
To be a dependant, you must fit one of these five definitions.
A dependant is:
- the deceased's child who was under
18 at the time of the accident
- the deceased's child who was substantially
dependent on the deceased at the time of the accident
- a person who was married to the deceased
but was legally, or in fact, separated from the deceased
- person who was married to the deceased
but is now divorced and who, at the time of the accident, was entitled to
receive support payments from the deceased according to an agreement or
court judgement
- a parent of the deceased who was substantially
dependent on the deceased at the time of the accident.
