Junior
Solicitor
Work Location: Various - Manitoba
Under the general direction of General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel, the incumbent represents the Corporation and its insureds in the conduct of civil litigation. The incumbent also acts as a litigation assistant to Solicitor I and solicitor 2 in the conduct of complex litigation matters.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Law degree from an accredited university and Practising Certificate from The Law Society of Manitoba
- Experience:
- This is an entry level position requiring the incumbent to have completed one year service as an Articled Student approved by The Law Society of Manitoba
- Special skills and/or requirements.
- The ability to conduct oneself in court
- Demonstrated skills in the area of legal research
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Legal
Secretary
Work Location: Various - Manitoba
Under supervision, completes complex typing assignments and clerical work in a legal administration assistant function. Decisions are made using established precedents or departmental policy.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school graduation
- Experience:
- Three years administrative assistant experience
- One year legal secretarial experience or legal secretarial certificate
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Demonstrated keyboarding skills (approx. 60 wpm)
- Proficient in applicable office software
- Proficiency in the use of a dictaphone
- Ability to work independently
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- OR an equivalent combination of the above.
