I
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the general supervision of an Accounting
Supervisor, is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties,
ranging from moderately complex to complex, in such areas as Financial
Services, Budgeting and Planning, Reinsurance, Payroll and Special Account
Services.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Grade XII
- Completion of the fourth level of a recognized
accounting program.
- Enrolment in the Canadian Payroll Association
program is preferred for the Accountant I position in payroll
- Experience:
- Four (4) years of accounting experience
in a related area
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or
experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Extensive working
knowledge of the macros and micro-computer software applications
used in the respective areas
- Strong analytical skills
- Good communication skills
- Strong report writing skills
- Knowledge of insurance
accounting practices
Accountant
II
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the direction of a manager in the Finance
Division, the incumbent is responsible for the supervision of an accounting
section. Responsible for accurate and timely financial and statistical
reports related to the section.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Recognized accounting designation
(CMA, CGA, CA)
- Experience:
- Six (6) years accounting experience,
forecasting and/or budgeting, preferably in an insurance company, using
mainframe
and microcomputer
applications, including some supervisory experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education
and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Above average proficiency in microcomputer
spreadsheet software applications
- Knowledge of insurance accounting
practices
- Sound analytical and interpersonal skills
- Effective
writing skills

Clerk 1
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under general supervision, is responsible
for performing a variety of standard accounting duties at an entry level.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school graduation
- First level of
a recognized accounting program
- Experience:
- Two years of related experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Proficient in applicable office
software
- Strong analytical skills
- Good oral communication skills
- OR an equivalent combination of the
above

Under the general supervision of an Accounting
Supervisor, is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties,
ranging from minor to moderately complex, in such areas as Budgeting & Planning,
Financial Services, and Reinsurance.

- Grade 12
- Completion of the third level of a recognized accounting program
- Experience:
- Three years of experience in a related area
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Special skills and/or requirements.

IRI
Calculator
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under direction of the IRI (Income Replacement
Indemnity) Supervisor, the IRI Calculator receives, verifies, maintains,
and brings to a conclusion all Income Replacement Indemnity calculations
pertaining to Employed Earners and straightforward Employed Fatalities.
The incumbent provides information and assistance on procedures, techniques
and entitlement to adjusters and claimants’ employers.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Completion of Grade XII
- Completion of the second level of an accredited
accounting program (e.g. CMA, CGA), and actively pursuing professional
designation status
- Experience:
- Two years of practical experience, in positions requiring
a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAP)
and practices and
application of the Income Tax Act of Canada
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Knowledge of insurance principles
and practices would be an asset
- Knowledge of the MPI Act and Regulations
as pertaining to PIPP would
be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data
- Working knowledge
of Microsoft Office
- Superior communication skills, written and oral
Senior
IRI Calculator
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the direction of the IRI Supervisor,
the Sr. IRI Calculator receives, verifies, maintains, and brings to conclusion
all Income Replacement Indemnity Calculations, pertaining to Self-Employment
and Non-Regular Employment scenarios. The incumbent provides information
and assistance on procedures, technique and entitlement to adjusters,
employers, and claimants’ representatives.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Completion of Grade XII/
- Completion of the fourth level of an accredited
accounting program (e.g. CGA or CMA), and actively pursuing professional
designation status.
- Experience:
- Four (4) years practical experience in positions requiring
a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
and practices,
financial reporting, and application of the Income Tax Act of Canada.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Special skills and/or requirements.
- Knowledge of insurance principles and practices would be an
asset.
- Knowledge of the MPI Act and Regulations as pertaining to PIPP
would
be an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and advanced knowledge in
the
preparation of computer spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of structured programming
logic and SQL would be an asset.
