Driver Education Instructors (Part-time positions)

As an independent contractor for Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI), you are responsible for the driver education of high school students in a given territory in Manitoba. In class and/or in car instructor opportunities are available.

Locations:

Part-time positions are available in (or within 16 km of):

  • Churchill
  • Cranberry Portage/Flin Flon
  • Dauphin
  • Morden/Winkler
  • Norway House
  • Portage la Prairie
  • Roblin
  • Rossburn
  • Selkirk
  • Thompson

Responsibilities:

In Class

  • Develop lesson plans based on Driver Education curriculum and conduct in class instruction
  • Administer testing on course content, Class 5 knowledge test and vision screening
  • Maintain and submit classroom records to MPI for payment and processing
  • Assign students to in-car instructors
  • Work closely with schools for scheduling in class sessions
  • Ensure permits are current

In-Car

  • Schedule in car driver training with students (8 hours of driving
    and 8 hours of observation time per student)
  • Maintain records for submission to MPI for payment and processing
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of vehicle
  • Ensure permits are current

Education:

  • Completion of high school
  • Instructor's permit preferred
  • Bachelor of Education Degree an asset

Requirements:

  • Class 5 F licence for at least 3 years
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check

Experience:

  • Some experience in facilitating training/workshops in large group settings
  • Some experience working with high school aged students

Special Skills (optional):

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite products
  • Experience driving Class 1-4 vehicles
  • Coaching experience
