Who qualifies for Veteran Licence Plates
You qualify if you’ve served honourably in:
What vehicles qualify
Passenger vehicles, non-commercial trucks and farm trucks qualify for Veteran Licence Plates.
Use them with your vehicle(s) or as a keepsake
If you are the registered owner of one or more vehicles that qualify, you can apply for Veteran Licence Plates for all of them. Only one set of plates will be issued per vehicle.
Or, if you don’t own any vehicles, you can still apply for one set of these licence plates as a keepsake.
You cannot transfer your plates to someone else.
Customize your plate
You can choose your licence plate with the word “veteran” in any language. On your application, indicate which language you’d like.
Cost
You must pay a $5 fee to the Royal Canadian Legion to confirm that you qualify for Veteran Licence Plates. The fee covers their administrative costs for providing this service.
How to apply
Complete the application form. Then, mail the completed form, your proof of service photocopies* and your $5 fee, to the Royal Canadian Legion. Their address is shown on the application form.
You’ll receive your plates by mail, with a set of instructions on how to activate them.
If you have already received your Veteran Licence Plates and lost one or both, you can apply for a replacement set by writing to Manitoba Public Insurance at the address shown in the Need more information? section.
*The photocopies won’t be returned to you.
