Registration > Registration Classes
It is the responsibility of Manitoba Public Insurance, Driver and Vehicle Licensing to ensure that all classes of vehicles under The Highway Traffic Act, The Drivers and Vehicles Act, Off-Road Vehicles Act, and Taxicab Act are registered correctly. In order to ensure that vehicles are registered correctly, they are broken down into vehicle classes based on type and use of the vehicle. Commercial vehicles registered under the International Registration Plan (IRP) and Public Service Vehicles (PSV) can be registered at a number of Manitoba Public Insurance locations throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
Vehicles registered as Antique Vehicle registration class can only be registered at the Manitoba Public Insurance Customer Service Centre at Cityplace Mall, 100-234 Donald Street, Winnipeg. All other vehicles can be registered at any Autopac outlet or various Manitoba Public Insurance locations.
Registration Class Table
Brokers are authorized to handle all classes highlighted in bold type and with a star µ in Column A of the table shown below. The remaining classes are handled by Manitoba Public Insurance, Driver and Vehicle Licensing.
Brokers can handle applications for Manitoba residents who want to register Commercial Trucks they own or lease and operate within a 161 km radius of the Manitoba border (except for IRP vehicles). All Commercial trailers owned or leased to Manitoba residents can be registered by brokers.
