Manitoba children and youth now have the opportunity to be film makers and win prize money while they urge motorists to slow down and watch their speed.
Freeze Frame and Manitoba Public Insurance have teamed up to present the first-ever Road Safety Video Challenge as part of Manitoba’s 2007 international festival of films for kids of all ages.
“Watch Your Speed!” will be the theme of the Wee Reel (up to Grade 8) and Reel Views (Grade 9 or higher, up to age 19) contests in the Public Service category. The winning entries will be awarded prizes of $250 provided by Manitoba Public Insurance, as well as certificates of recognition and the honour of having their videos shown at the actual festival in March 2007.
Videos entered in the contest must address the consequences of speeding and one or more of the reasons why people speed, and provide a call to action to watch your speed or slow down.
Both live action and animation entries will be accepted by Freeze Frame until 4:30 pm on Friday February 16, 2007.
