Investigation foils phony driver's licence scheme

This morning, Winnipeg Police, in partnership with Manitoba Public Insurance, announced that two individuals have been arrested and charged with forgery.

An investigation carried out by Manitoba Public Insurance's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) revealed that two Winnipeg men are allegedly producing and selling counterfeit driver's licences to high school students. Nearly a dozen driver's licences have been seized.

The corporation’s investigation unit will continue to monitor this issue closely. The Manitoba Liquor Control Commission, Manitoba Lotteries and the Manitoba Hotel Association have also been notified.
