Drive with Extreme Caution Today

Motorists in the southern regions of Manitoba are encouraged to exercise extreme caution today with the anticipated arrival of heavy snow, rain and reduced visibility.

“Reducing your speed during poor weather and maintaining a proper following distance could help you avoid a collision,” said Barry Watson, Manager of Road Safety with Manitoba Public Insurance.

The public insurer also wants to remind Manitobans if they do unfortunately get into a collision over the New Year’s weekend, the Autopac Line will be open on Monday, Jan. 3, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. To open a claim Winnipeggers and those living in the Interlake Region can call either 985-7000 (Winnipeg) or 1-800-665-2410 (toll free).

Note: Those living in rural communities should contact their closest rural Manitoba Public Insurance claim centre to open a claim on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
