Work Zones
Traveling through construction zones can be frustrating for motorists. Here are a few hints aimed at preventing collisions between vehicles and construction workers.
When passing through a construction zone:
- Expect the unexpected. Speed limits may be lower and traffic diverted. Workers and equipment may be working on or near the road.
- Drivers should also increase their following distance between vehicles in the event of a sudden halt in traffic.
- Try not to crowd the barricades. Colliding with one may cause injury to a worker or cause damage to your vehicle.
The same rule applies in work zones in rural areas. Slow down even more so when passing workers.
A little cooperation with other drivers will create a better traffic flow and keep everyone safe.
