Backing in makes parking lots safer

Backing out of a parking spot in a crowded lot can be stressful or even dangerous. That’s why it can be a good idea to back into the parking spot. It’s easier to back in between two stationary vehicles than it is to back out into a parking lot full of vehicles and people. If you back in to your parking spot, you’ll be able to drive out with a better sightline of the parking lot.

Choose a wide space

If you’re going to back into a parking spot, pick one that has a wider turning angle. Make sure it’s wide enough for your vehicle. Check for oncoming and following traffic and check your blind spots. Watch for any parked vehicles preparing to move.

Get into position

Practice makes perfect

Backing into parking spots is a useful skill. Give it a try and practise in a quiet parking lot first.
