Airbag Safety

Airbags are a valuable safety device that can save lives and reduce the risk of injury when used with a seatbelt.

Here are a few tips to remember when riding in a vehicle equipped with airbags:

Buckle up

Airbag SafetyAirbags are meant to supplement seatbelts, not replace them. Make sure you fasten your seatbelt every time you drive, even for short distances.

Keep a safe distance

If you're seated too close to the airbag, serious injury can result. The proper position is approximately 25 centimetres away from the airbag.

Airbags and children

Always place rear-facing car seats in the back seat and children up to 12 years of age should be seated in the back, middle seat. If you have more than one child, the youngest child should go in the middle seat.
