U-Turns
A U-turn is a maneuver we all do from time to time. However, if done incorrectly, it's a maneuver that can cause problems.
It's a common misconception that U-turns at intersections with traffic lights are illegal. That's not the case.
The law says it's illegal to make a U-turn:
- at the top of a hill where traffic within 150 meters in either direction can't see you
- if you interfere with other traffic
- if you're at a curve in the road
- if there's a sign that prohibits making a U-turn
Some intersections have a special U-turn arrow
The Green U-turn arrow indicates you may proceed to make a U-turn after yielding to pedestrians and other vehicles already in the intersection.
Before making a U-turn, assess the situation.
Is the road wide enough? is there a curve in the road? do you have a clear view? and is the U-turn legal?
