Turning at a Red Light

In Manitoba, you are allowed to turn right on a red light, unless a traffic sign prohibits it.

However, you must still obey some basic rules before proceeding;

right turn on red picIf there is a vehicle parked in the curb lane within 30 m of the intersection, you can angle out in to the second lane as long it's safe to do so.

What about turning left on a red light?

All the same rules for right turns on red apply, but you can only turn left from a one-way to another one-way street, after yielding to pedestrians and other traffic.

Most crashes happen at intersections, so before making a simple turn, first, make sure the coast is clear.
