Tire Inflation Video

Tire Inflation

tire inflationOne of the most important, and often the most neglected, pieces of equipment on your car is your tires. They are your only contact with the road, and if they aren't properly inflated, you could easily lose that contact. A properly inflated tire provides you with the best acceleration, braking and steering control.

Proper tire pressure varies with the type of tire and the type of vehicle. Check your owner's manual or the sidewall for the proper pressure. Generally, 30-33 pounds can be used for an average-sized passenger car. Remember that tires lose air pressure at the rate of 7 kpa (1 pound per square inch) for each 5ºC (10ºF) drop in temperature.

You should check your tire pressure at least twice a month, or before a long trip. The best time to check your tires is when they are cool.

Tires should be replaced when the tread wear indicators start to show. Proper inflation and tire rotation will let your tires last a lot longer.
