Roundabouts
There's a type of intersection that has been popping up more and more in different parts of the province. It's called a roundabout. Here's a look at the proper use of a roundabout.
The important thing to remember about this type of intersection is to yield to cyclists and vehicles already in the roundabout.
Do that by looking to the left for traffic coming around the circle. When there is no traffic to your left you can enter the roundabout. Your entry into the roundabout will always be a right turn. While in the roundabout you have the right of way over vehicles entering but you should still be prepared for surprises.
As you approach the street you wish to exit on to signal your intentions then yield the right of way to pedestrians and cyclists while exiting the roundabout.
This type of intersection keeps the flow of traffic moving. When used properly it's a safe and efficient way to move from one street to another without stopping.
