High School Driver Education Program >
Class 5 Learner's Licence > Completing Licensing Requirements
Passing the test in class doesn't mean you can get behind the wheel. You need a licence before you can drive. Depending on your situation, there are three possible outcomes:
1. You passed the knowledge test and vision screening
Congratulations! Go to an Autopac agent to pay the applicable fees and get your licence. Remember to bring the following items with you:
2. You Didn't Make It
That’s okay…not everyone passes the test on the first try. You must wait seven days before you can re-take the test at a Manitoba Public Insurance location. You'll need to bring the same items listed in the You Passed section, as well as a $10 test re-write charge.
3. You Couldn’t Write the Test in Class
If you couldn't take the Knowledge Test in the classroom because you were absent or didn't have your customer number (Change Particulars) you'll have to take it at a Manitoba Public Insurance location. You will need to take your customer number and a letter from your instructor marked "Special Consideration" and this will entitle you to take the test once without charge.
Knowledge Testing in Winnipeg, Winkler and Steinbach are appointment-based. Call:

4. If you need a Vision Screening Re-test
If you couldn’t do the vision screening in the classroom because you were absent or you need to have a re-test, you’ll have to do it at a Manitoba Public Insurance location.
If you have questions about the test or other licensing procedures you can call Manitoba Public Insurance at 985-7000 (Winnipeg) or toll-free at 1-800-665-2410.
