Vehicle Claim > Evaluating & Repairing Your Vehicle Damage

Role of the Estimator

An estimator is the Manitoba Public Insurance representative who identifies the damage to your vehicle and determines what repairs it needs. This information is used to prepare a repair estimate.

Our estimators examine your vehicle and record all the damage into a state-of-the-art computer. In turn, the computer calculates parts prices, replacement labour and overall cost. Then, it prints an estimate for you.

The computer is only as accurate as the information that's fed into it. Our estimators are all qualified autobody professionals. When they examine your vehicle, they know exactly what to look for to make sure the computer gets the correct information.

If you noticed other damage after leaving the claim centre, the best thing to do is call your adjuster who can give you advice on what to do in your particular situation. Here are two possible solutions:

  1. Arrange to bring your vehicle back to the claim centre for reinspection.
  2. If your vehicle is already at the repair shop, usually the shop and our estimator will communicate directly to work out the problem.
