Officer I
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the general supervision of the Information Services Co-ordinator, the incumbent is responsible for writing materials designed to disseminate internal and external information, creating greater understanding and awareness of the Corporation and its activities and objectives. Most work is checked before release for conformance to Corporate policy.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduation from a recognized program in communications, journalism, public relations or related discipline
- Experience:
- Considerable experience working in the field of journalism
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Well developed oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and understand Corporation concepts and procedures.
- Ability to prepare interesting and informative written material following journalistic principles and practices.
Communications
Officer II
(Media Relations/Corporate Relations/Advertising Specialist/Electronic
Media Writer)
Work Location: Winnipeg
Media Relations
Develops and delivers media-related communication programs/plans including
responding to media enquiries, writing news releases and other information/articles
for the media. Arranges for interviews between appropriate Corporate representatives
and the media, and advises the media of any news conferences or other events.
Plans and co-ordinates media events such as news conferences and photo
opportunities.
Corporate Relations
Develops
and delivers internal and external communication programs/plans for the
Corporation’s employees and
external audiences. Oversees development of the Courier, Coverage and
other corporate publications.
Advertising Specialist
Responsible
for writing and producing advertising and promotional material to inform
and educate the public about MPI’s
operations, programs, and services. Materials include brochures, television
commercials, print
and radio ads, and videos.
Electronic Media Writer/Specialist
Develops,
delivers and maintains internal and external communication programs/plans
designed for the Corporation’s
Internet and Intranet sites serving external and internal audiences.
Oversees
design and development of content
for and enhancements to the existing web sites in co-operation and consultation
with others in the Electronic Media Group and throughout the Corporation.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduation from a recognized program in communications, advertising, public relations or related discipline
- Experience:
- Considerable experience (5 or more years) working in the disciplines of advertising, public relations or communications
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute innovative, effective and informative communications programs.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Demonstrated competency in Marcromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and Acrobat 4.0. (Electronic Media)
Community
Programming Co-ordinator
Work Location: Winnipeg
Reporting to the Programming Development Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for promoting road safety and co-ordinating road safety educational initiatives at the community level, including co-ordinating road safety promotional activities undertaken by community committees or associations (from the areas of local government, schools, enforcement, health, media and others) and encouraging community commitment to road safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Undergraduate degree or technical training, preferably in the area of communications, public relations, or a related discipline
- Experience:
- Two (2) years experience in public service programming including direct customer service
- Two (2) years experience in working with community-based groups
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated team-building skills
- Ability to motivate, co-ordinate, mediate and conciliate
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Awareness of road safety issues
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing, high profile environment
- Knowledge and competence with personal computer

Graphic
Designer
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the general direction of the Creative Services Co-ordinator, designs and co-ordinates the production of graphic and other visual elements to support corporate advertising/promotional/ educational programs.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduation from a two (2) year program in commercial art
- Experience:
- At least three (3) years experience as a designer/illustrator in a print facility advertising agency, studio or institutional environment, or a combination
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Artistic and creative ability are essential. The incumbent must display strong skills in planning layouts, illustration, freehand drawing and lettering, mechanical lettering, air brush techniques, water colour drawing.
- Good knowledge of art and print reproduction methods and photography
Senior
Graphic Designer
Work Location: Winnipeg
Under the general supervision of the Creative Services Co-ordinator develops and implements comprehensive graphic design strategies for promoting the Corporations’ products, programs and image.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduation from a recognized program in commercial art and graphic design
- Experience:
- Five (5) years experience as a designer/illustrator working in the disciplines of an advertising agency, studio or institutional environments, or a combination of these settings
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Special skills and/or requirements:
- Demonstrated artistic and creative
ability
- Demonstrated skill in planning layouts, illustration, freehand drawing and lettering, mechanical lettering, air brush techniques, water colour drawing
- Good knowledge of art and print reproduction methods and photography
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to conceptualize and execute innovative, effective and informative visual programs
