Driver Safety Rating (DSR)

Your Driver Safety Rating is your position on a scale with 36 active levels. Which level you’re on depends on your driving record and will affect how much you pay for your Autopac and driver’s licence premiums.*

Safe driving yields more savings, while higher-risk driving brings higher premiums.

Click here to find out how much you'll pay for your driver's licence and Autopac premiums at different positions on the DSR scale.

There are other factors that influence what you pay, including what you drive, where you live and how you use your vehicle. For more information about Autopac and driver’s licence premiums, please see the Your Autopac and driver’s licence brochure, available here.

How safe driving can save you money
The table below shows you how much you pay for your driver premium and what your vehicle premium discount is when you're on different positions on the Driver Safety Rating scale.

Please note that the driver's licence charge of $20 still applies and is collected in addition to the DSR driver premium.

The driver premiums and vehicle premium discounts shown are in effect this year.

New for 2011, targeted savings for the safest drivers
We've added levels +11 to +14 to the scale so people who have driven safely for 11 to 14 years can save between 27 and 30 per cent. Plus, we've raised the maximum available discount from 25 per cent to 33 per cent, so people with 15 or more years of safe driving can save even more.
