About the renewal process

Now it’s easier and more convenient to renew your driver’s licence and Autopac. With our five-year licenses and policies, you’ll only need to visit your Autopac agent only once every five years, unless you want to change or cancel your policy between renewals.

You’ll still pay your driver’s licence and vehicle insurance every year. In years between renewals, you will receive an annual Statement of Account, telling you what you owe.

You can choose to pay:

Under our improved renewal process, policies will not automatically lapse after one year. You must visit an Autopac agent to change or cancel your licence or vehicle insurance. Otherwise, they will remain in effect and you will be charged for them.

These changes began March 1, 2010. However, changing everyone over to five-year renewals will take a few years. Until the changeover is finished, your Autopac and driver’s licence may last from one to five years.
